to carry death there.
Doesn’t the world know that life moves for more than just
the sons of Abraham?
O! I see the stunned throats floating by in the dusk to
their stiff-limbed sleep
as metal rains down over the Jordan’s western prophet,
children dying there.
I am here, waiting, breathing in the dusk under the shadow
of the patriarch,
asking, can we again build the shrine inside the soul and
leave our flesh to time?

pm- i will never understand how humans can profess to hold humans above any other living being- per their god's directive- and treat them pretty much the same as any other living being to be conquered, defeated, subjugated, destroyed. it sickens.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. It looks like Billie/Betmo saw this as being all about animals/the way we treat them, and while I do see that, it spoke to me of our(humans)ugly desire to believe one "way" is above all others. An avowed Atheist for many(nearly 18) years, in 2003, I found/came to/chose Spirituality, and even practice some RC (Roman Catholic) prayers and ritual, but I do NOT believe any person has "superior" knowledge, when it comes to the very personal questions of Faith.Such belief in our "superiority" over others only damages us, and takes us away from true Light--and PEACE!
This poem is beautiful.

betmo,
I hear you my friend. I hear you.
Lisa Allender,
It certainly takes us away from the supposed goal.
Thank you for your sentiments about the poem. Much appreciated.
Peace...
